Non-Medical Helper (NMH) support is designed to help you get the most out of your studies. It focuses on removing barriers linked to neurodivergence such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Our role is not to do the work for you — it’s to help you develop effective strategies, confidence, and independence in managing your studies and student life.
We know that setting up your DSA support can feel confusing at first — there are forms, emails, and new names to remember, and it’s not always clear where to start.
Please don’t worry. We’ve supported many students (and understand the process from both a professional and parent perspective), so we’ll make it as easy as possible for you.
Once your Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) has been approved, you’ll receive a letter called your DSA2. This letter confirms your funding and lists the providers for each type of support you’ve been awarded.
If Anchored Support is listed as the provider for your Specialist Study Skills and Strategy Tutor (ASC) and/or Specialist Mentor (ASC), it is your responsibility to contact us to arrange your sessions.
Together, we can work on:
Understanding assignment briefs and planning your approach
Structuring essays, reports, and dissertations
Managing time, workload, and deadlines
Developing study routines that support focus and consistency
Building strategies to reduce stress and stay on track
We can help you:
Manage stress, anxiety, and change
Build routines that balance study, rest, and personal life
Develop confidence in communication and self-advocacy
Plan for transitions such as placements or group projects
Stay motivated and maintain wellbeing throughout your course
Check your DSA2 letter: Your DSA2 will tell you who your support provider is for Study Skills (ASC/ADHD) and Specialist Mentoring (ASC/ADHD). It is your responsibility to contact the named provider to arrange your support.
Contact us: When you’re ready, click on the Fill Out Form button below. You will be asked to attach a copy of your DSA2 letter – this confirms that we’re your approved provider.
We’ll get you set up: After we receive your details, we’ll confirm your information and answer any initial questions, then match you with a suitable mentor or study skills tutor.
Your first session: The first meeting is a relaxed introductory session to get to know each other and discuss your needs.
Ongoing support: NMH support is available for the duration of your degree, based on your individual requirements.
